The Smartest People You Know Are Creating Unintelligent Outcomes, Here's Why

December 17, 20258 min read

Key Points:

  • Intelligence isn't measured by IQ, credentials, or technical expertise, it's measured by the outcomes produced

  • Most political leaders, corporate titans, and scientists celebrated as "smart" are creating profoundly unintelligent outcomes

  • War, greed, environmental destruction, and systemic exploitation are all unintelligent outcomes, regardless of how brilliant their architects appear

  • True Intelligence requires aligning with universal principles of harmony rather than optimizing narrow metrics

Your Harvard MBA doesn't make you intelligent.

Neither does your Stanford PhD, your McKinsey partnership, or your ability to dominate boardroom debates with sophisticated analysis.

In fact, by the universe's definition of Intelligence, most of the "smartest" people driving modern civilization are functionally unintelligent, and their decisions are destroying the systems they claim to optimize.

This isn't a comfortable realization. We've been conditioned to equate Intelligence with academic achievement, technical expertise, and analytical capability. We celebrate the brilliant minds engineering financial derivatives, developing military technologies, and maximizing quarterly earnings, even as these "intelligent" outcomes generate systemic collapse.

The problem isn't that these people lack brainpower. It's that we've fundamentally misunderstood what Intelligence actually means.

What Makes Someone Truly Intelligent?

In human terms, we define Intelligence narrowly: IQ tests, problem-solving ability, logical reasoning, academic performance. Over the past decades, we've expanded this slightly, spatial intelligence, linguistic intelligence, mathematical intelligence, interpersonal intelligence.

All reductionism at work. Breaking down the complex into digestible parts we can analyze and understand.

None of this is necessarily bad. It can even be helpful.

But this is not how the universe defines Intelligence.

The truth is, the universe is entirely indifferent to how complex a math equation you can solve. It's unconcerned with whatever genius you might possess in any reductionist category of human intelligence.

To the universe, Intelligence is defined by a single premise:

"Intelligence creates intelligent outcomes; Unintelligence creates unintelligent outcomes."

So what constitutes an intelligent outcome?

Anything conducive to Life itself, defined as the greatest growth, greatest prosperity, and greatest evolution of Life itself. Not just your individual growth. Not just your company's profitability. Not just your nation's dominance. Life itself, across all nested complex living systems.

Well captured within this definition of intelligent outcomes: Love, Truth, joy, happiness, fulfillment, health, peace, harmony, vitality, abundance, expansion.

Unintelligent outcomes? War, violence, oppression, hate, racism, greed, corruption, malfeasance, systemic inequalities, environmental degradation, reckless exploitation of Mother Earth, the very planet that allows us to live.

From the universe's perspective, it's really just that simple.

The Crisis of False Intelligence

If we look at our world today through this lens, something devastating becomes clear:

The human interpretation of Intelligence, with all its reductionist variations, doesn't necessarily produce intelligent outcomes. In fact, it creates a dizzying list of unintelligent outcomes.

Our "smartest" minds have engineered:

  • Financial systems that extract wealth rather than circulate it

  • Economic models predicated on infinite growth within finite ecosystems

  • Military technologies optimizing destruction efficiency

  • Surveillance systems eroding fundamental freedoms

  • Agricultural practices degrading the soil that sustains us

  • Energy systems poisoning the air we breathe

  • Political structures serving narrow interests while degrading collective wellbeing

Each of these represents sophisticated technical achievement. Each involves brilliant minds solving complex problems. Each generates profoundly unintelligent outcomes.

This reveals the fundamental flaw: Our understanding of what constitutes Intelligence is not just slightly flawed, it's categorically in conflict with the intelligence of Life itself that governs all of Creation.

Why Smart People Create Unintelligent Outcomes

Here's what nobody in business school will tell you: This isn't necessarily a computing power problem. It's a Consciousness problem.

With 80-85 percent of humanity below level 200 on the Map of Consciousness, we simply don't have sufficient access to Intelligence as the universe defines it. We're mired in survival mode, fear, and short-sightedness, which leads to self-dealing, greed, malfeasance, corruption, manipulation, and most of all, indifference to the health and vitality of the entire system.

We optimize the parts while degrading the whole. We solve for quarterly earnings while destroying long-term viability. We generate individual success while contributing to collective collapse.

The most celebrated executives, the most awarded scientists, the most powerful politicians, many are operating from this fragmented Intelligence. Their decisions make perfect sense within narrow analytical frameworks. They can be rationalized with impressive sophistication. They're just profoundly unintelligent when measured by actual outcomes across the system.

Consider:

  • The pharmaceutical executive who engineers record profits while creating epidemic-level addiction

  • The tech leader who optimizes engagement metrics while fragmenting social coherence

  • The energy CEO who maximizes shareholder value while accelerating planetary degradation

  • The political strategist who wins elections while eroding democratic legitimacy

High IQ. Technical brilliance. Analytical sophistication. Unintelligent outcomes.

The Emerging AI Crisis

A Woman Looking Afar

If that picture isn't dim enough, it gets worse.

AI computing power has been growing exponentially for decades, roughly doubling every 18-24 months (Moore's Law). AI computing power is now approaching that of a single human, and cumulative AI power will likely surpass collective human computing power within 10-15 years, probably sooner.

Here's the terrifying part: We're teaching AI to optimize using our faulty definition of Intelligence.

We're encoding unintelligence at scale. We're creating systems that will optimize narrow objectives with superhuman capability while remaining blind to systemic consequences. We're building the most powerful optimization engines humanity has ever created, and pointing them at unintelligent goals.

An AI trained to maximize profitability doesn't inherently understand ecological limits. An AI optimizing military strategy doesn't comprehend the intelligence of peace. An AI engineered for market dominance doesn't recognize the wisdom of cooperation.

We're scaling unintelligence at exponential rates while congratulating ourselves on our technical brilliance.

Redefining Intelligence for Survival

The shift required isn't technical. It's perceptual.

We must redefine Intelligence in alignment with universal principles of harmony, where choices serve the greatest good of all rather than optimizing fragmented metrics.

This has far-reaching implications:

  • Planetary stewardship: Intelligent solutions regenerate rather than extract

  • Geopolitical conflicts: Intelligent approaches foster cooperation rather than domination

  • Economic structures: Intelligent systems circulate value rather than concentrate it

  • Organizational leadership: Intelligent decisions serve all stakeholders rather than maximizing for one

True Intelligence recognizes that we are each a self-organizing complex living system nested within larger systems, with smaller systems nested within us. As Marcus Aurelius observed: "That which is not good for the beehive cannot be good for the bees."

Your individual success achieved through systemic degradation is unintelligent, because the system's collapse eventually consumes your success.

Your company's profitability generated by stakeholder exploitation is unintelligent, because exploited systems eventually refuse cooperation.

Your nation's dominance built on global destabilization is unintelligent, because destabilization eventually reaches your borders.

What True Intelligence Looks Like

Intelligent outcomes are:

  • Life-affirming rather than life-denying

  • Regenerative rather than extractive

  • Systemic rather than fragmented

  • Long-term rather than short-sighted

  • Cooperative rather than zero-sum

The truly intelligent leader doesn't just optimize their domain, they consider ripple effects across all affected systems. They don't just solve today's problem, they ensure the solution doesn't create tomorrow's crisis. They don't just maximize their metric, they verify that optimization serves the greater whole.

This requires accessing Intelligence beyond the analytical Mind. It requires the Intelligence of the Heart, feeling, sensing, direct knowing, intuiting. It requires holistic perception rather than reductionist analysis. It requires Wisdom rather than just knowledge.

Most executives I encounter have never developed this capacity. They've spent decades honing analytical intelligence while completely neglecting the intelligence required to discern whether their brilliant solutions serve Life or undermine it.

The Path Forward

The good news: Intelligence can be developed. Consciousness can ascend. Perception can expand.

The bad news: This requires most leaders to admit that their entire framework for understanding Intelligence is fundamentally flawed. That their impressive credentials don't guarantee intelligent outcomes. That their technical brilliance may be generating unintelligent destruction.

That's a bitter pill for people who built entire identities around being "smart."

But here's what's at stake: We're approaching tipping points across multiple systems simultaneously. Climate. Economic. Political. Social. Ecological. The unintelligent outcomes generated by our "smartest" minds are converging toward systemic collapse.

The universe is indifferent to our credentials. It responds only to outcomes. And our outcomes are revealing that we're not nearly as intelligent as we believe ourselves to be.

The question isn't whether you're smart by conventional measures. The question is: Are your decisions creating intelligent outcomes?

Are you producing harmony or discord? Building systems or degrading them? Generating regenerative value or extractive destruction? Serving Life or exploiting it?

Your answer to these questions reveals your actual Intelligence, regardless of what your diploma says.

Should You Rethink Everything You Know About Intelligence Right Now?

Before you dismiss this framework as impractical philosophy, consider this: The executives who've grasped this understanding are positioning themselves and their organizations for what's actually emerging. Those who haven't are defending dying structures while convinced they're being strategic.

The leaders who recognize that true Intelligence transcends analytical capability are developing the perceptual capacity to navigate increasing complexity. Those who remain trapped in reductionist frameworks are optimizing themselves toward obsolescence.

Want to develop genuine Intelligence? Start by examining your outcomes rather than defending your process.

Explore the complete framework for developing Intelligence aligned with Life itself in Love+Truth, The Crucible Manifesto, and Alpha Virtus, all available at https://books.by/loveplustruth.

These books won't teach you to be "smarter" by conventional measures. They'll teach you to access the Intelligence that actually matters: the kind that creates outcomes serving Life itself rather than undermining it.

Because in the end, the universe doesn't care about your IQ. It only responds to your outcomes.

Once you see, you cannot unsee.
